NSU University School Mu Alpha Theta students love to give back to the South Florida community. The school’s Upper School Mu Alpha Theta members sold many varieties of pie on Pi Day to raise money for nearby Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School families this year and have supported St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in many previous years. Students set a goal of raising $314 each Pi Day but nearly always surpass their goal! All NSU University School Mu Alpha Theta students also volunteer after school to tutor other students in the school’s math peer tutoring lab. They enjoy sharing new math strategies they’ve learned with each other in weekly math team practices as they prepare for math competitions. As part of Uschool’s STEM Week in conjunction with National Biomechanics Day this year, Mu Alpha Theta students went to the Nova Southeastern University Exercise Science Lab to conduct math experiments to learn how they can use their math skills to help students prevent sports-related injuries.
